One of the easiest and classic ways to decorate your door is with a wreath. You can either purchase one or make one yourself. Around the summertime, a bunch of home goods stores like Michaels, HomeGoods and Target will be sure to have festive summer wreaths to fit your style! Or you can always check out my favorite artisan store Etsy, as they have designers from all over the world creating beautiful wreaths for all seasons. There are all kinds of summer wreaths that have shells, starfish, flip flops, and more on them.

Or if you are feeling crafty, you could make your own summer wreaths using some simple items. All you would need is a wire or straw wreath form, hot glue, and your desired decorations. First, start by gluing on the larger decorations. Once those are in place, fill in the gaps with smaller items. And that’s it! You now have a beautiful and unique summer wreath for your front door.

Another popular addition to the door decor ideas list is garlands. Garlands are very versatile as you can use them indoors or outdoors. You can also hang them on your door, or drape them across the frame.

Like wreaths, garlands can be bought or made. One of the decorating tips that we recommend is that you use artificial plants and flowers. This way they will last longer and won’t wilt in the heat. Silk flowers are a great option!

To make your own garland, start by deciding what kind of plants and/or flowers you want to use. Once you have gathered all of your materials, lay them out on a flat surface. Then, using wire or string, start attaching the items. Start with the larger items and then fill in the gaps with the smaller ones, just like you did for your DIY summer wreath. And that’s it! You now have a beautiful garland to add to your front door decor (or any door in your home!).

Another great way to decorate your door for summer is with lights. You can use string lights, fairy lights, or even solar-powered lights. They are all beautiful and can give that cohesive look to your door decor.

String lights are a classic decoration that can be used year-round, so this is why they are such a popular choice. They come in a variety of colors, so you can find the perfect ones to match your summer door decorations. And they are easy to hang! Just drape them over your door or door frame and you’re all set.

You could even do something a bit different and hang up some lights over each one of the doors in your house and turn them on at night time! It would be a fun thing to look forward to doing over the summer for sure.

Doormats are another front door decoration that you can use year-round, and are perfect for the summer so you can dust the sand off of your feet from the beach or from just walking around! They are also a great way to add a pop of color or pattern to your front door because they come with all different designs on them. From flip-flops, to the sun, to palm trees, you can find a cute summer doormat at any home goods store that matches your style.

When looking for the perfect summer doormat, make sure to find one that is durable and can withstand the elements. We recommend a doormat that is made of coir, which is a natural fiber that is known for its durability. We also recommend getting a dark-colored doormat, like dark blue for example, since doormats usually get used a lot over the summer!

Plus, you could always match your super cute palm tree doormat to this summer DoorFoto called "Palm Tree on Beach." Since our installation only takes 28 seconds, all you have to do afterward is place your doormat on the floor at the front door and you are ready to go!

Place a bench or chairs on your porch

This isn't exactly a door decoration, but it definitely will be the perfect addition to your front entryway. By placing a bench or some chairs on your porch, you are giving your visitors a place to sit and enjoy the summer weather. Adding some nice potted plants would be another great addition too!

Your guests will also appreciate being able to take their shoes off before coming into your house if they have been out in the heat all day. This way they can avoid tracking any dirt or sand into your home.

Not to mention, it is the perfect place for you to enjoy a cup of iced tea or lemonade on a hot summer day. So, it will not only be a great addition to your summer door decorations, but it will also give you a place to sit and relax to enjoy your summer door decorations!

Front Door Decor Combinations

If you really want to step up your summer door decorations game, then we have the perfect solution for you... a DoorFoto combined with any or ALL of the above suggestions! Go all out this year on your front porch decorations and watch the compliments roll in.

Perhaps this DoorFoto called "Sunset Over Lake" is just what you are looking for to add to your summer door decorations. Their images are such high-quality, that you might think you are standing right on the lake yourself! The possibilities are endless.
